This is a logbook kept by Henry Sanford, documenting a voyage to the Pacific Ocean on the whaling ship John Coggeshall out of Newport, Rhode Island, from Oct. 3, 1835 to May 18, 1836. The volume records winds, weather, courses, latitude observations, sighting and killing of whales, employment of hands, and other ships sighted.
