Charles Baber, d. 1885(?) was an agent for the Schuylkill Navigation Company, Port Carbon, Pennsylvania. Port Carbon was the site of the first lock on the Schuylkill Canal.

Four letters from Frederick Gaul to Charles Baber, Port Carbon, Schuylkill Canal, Pennsylvania. Gaul writes to Baber regarding his various properties, leases and taxes. Nov 4th, 1840 letter contains mention of D. G. Yuengling of Pottsville. The collection also includes an 1857 broadside from the Schuylkill Navigation Company prohibiting the depositing of coal dirt in streams that empty into the Schuylkill River.
