Captain John W. Adams was master of various schooners including W.G. Bartlett and Ocean Traveller.
Papers related to the career of Capt. John W. Adams, including a master’s license (1912), accounts for several schooners, a diagram of Chesapeake & Delaware Canal, correspondence, and cabinet photographs, possibly of men who served under Adams, and an account book for the schooner Ocean Traveller, 1869-1872. The account book volume was later used by Adams’ son Robert R. Adams, as a notebook while he was studying to be a minister, circa 1893.
